They have expertise in a wide range of areas, including advocacy, education, finance, healthcare, project management and marketing. The Board meets four times a year and is responsible for taking care of the strategic and financial health of the organization on an ongoing basis.

  • Breanne Mathers

    FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Breanne is a certified child life specialist and therapeutic recreation specialist. She believes play, nature, and animals are the perfect recipe for supporting lifelong positive mental health, well-being, and coping.

After working for nearly ten years at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, she packed up her B.A. in Sociology and a post-graduate diploma in Therapeutic Recreation to co-found and grow Fiddlehead Care Farm in Mono, Ontario, for seven years.

The itch to move closer to her family and bring the benefits of care farming to a new region inspired Breanne to move to the Quinte Region in 2022 to found Dragonfly Care Farm.

In her free time, you’ll find her enthusiastically telling anyone who’ll listen about the incredible powers of play, books, trees, and plants and searching for the best burger and poutine in town.

  • Rebecca Phillips

    DIRECTOR

Rebecca lives north of Belleville with her husband and two boys, who all enjoy the peace of country life along with their dog, cat and chickens.

She has worked at Hastings Prince Edward Public Health for over 15 years in various roles focussing on promoting health. Rebecca has also been a member of several boards of directors, and her skills in advocacy, project management and fiscal responsibility are a great fit for this team.

She is always looking for effective and innovative ways to improve the health of her community and is beyond thrilled that this nature-based organization has launched. She will be a proud spokesperson for Dragonfly Care Farm and is excited to see it grow and evolve.

  • Paula Kehoe

    DIRECTOR

Paula has over 17 years of blended experience in journalism, corporate communications, public relations and copywriting. She currently owns and operates two boutique copywriting businesses (Red Rock Communications and Feel Good Media) based out of Peterborough, Ontario.

Previously, she served on the board of directors at Fiddlehead Care Farm and the Women's Business Network of Peterborough, as well as organizing committees for Peterborough's International Women's Day Conference and Bears' Lair Entrepreneurial Competition.

As a mom to a child with autism, Paula has seen first-hand the benefits of nature-based therapy. She applauds the services Breanne provides to vulnerable people who need accessible, therapeutic care. By joining the Board, Paula has ambitious plans to put Dragonfly Care Farm further on the radar.
